Strategic Cooperation
In 1994 Dassault Systèmes of Suresnes, France, and mental images announced a long term research and development agreement between the two companies, the first Original Software Development (OSD) agreement between Dassault Systèmes and an independent software developing company.
Dassault Systèmes S.A. is the worldwide leader in advanced 3D PLM and CAD/CAM/CAE with its CATIA software. The software is marketed worldwide by IBM. Under the terms of the agreement, mental images is responsible for the development of the general purpose CATIA Rendering Component (CRC) based on mental ray 2.x for Dassault Systèmes' CATIA V4. CATIA V5 product Photo Studio (PS) and Photo Studio Optimized (PSO) is based on mental ray 3.3.
