BEIJING, China, April 25, 2006-mental images®, a global leader in the fast-growing market for high-end 3D visualization software and the Communication University of China (CUC) today announced the first Chinese training program for mental ray®, the leading high-end rendering software. Rendering is a key software technology used to generate photorealistic images for 3D animation and games as well as in Computer Aided Design.
As the demand for 3D computer applications is rising sharply in China, so is the requirement for qualified professionals and advanced education in that field. CUC will be offering specialized training for professional animators starting in the fall of 2006.
In addition, the Chinese edition of ''Rendering with mental ray'' (3rd edition) will be published by PT Press this fall. This book is the officially authorized handbook for mental ray written by the mental ray software project leader. It gives a general introduction into rendering with mental ray, as well as step-by-step recipes for creating advanced effects and tips and tricks for professional users. A comprehensive definition of mental ray's scene description language and the standard shader libraries are included as the basis for all examples. The Chinese edition will be adopted as the textbook for the training program in CUC.

The Animation School of CUC was first established in April 2001, which is among the earliest schools in China to be engaged in animation training and academic research. Over the recent years, professors and students of the Animation School have made significant achievements in the field of animated shorts, commercial animation movies and digital television productions.
