mental mill® Standard Edition is intended for look-development and lighting TDs, shader writers, game developers, level designers and product designers.
In addition to the features that Artist Edition offers, Standard Edition allows the user to write and edit shader code, and visually debug the shader by interactively inspecting variables while stepping through the code. As well, the user can export shaders for use in DCC and CAD applications through the supported, customizable back-end formats such as CgFX, HLSL, and GLSL. Materials from the MetaSL Material Library can be manipulated as well with Standard Edtion. With the included mental ray preview plug-in it is easy to see your shaders in a photo-realistic ray tracer.
Standard Edition users can also share the shaders they have written with other mental mill, 3ds Max, Maya, Softimage, CATIA and mental ray users.
