Subsurface scattering skin

This section offers to download documentation and detailed tutorials for advanced users. It covers the usage of special shaders for architectural and design visualization, for visual effects in film and animation production, and the subsurface scattering package with details on skin rendering.

The documentation covers the feature set of the shaders coming with mental ray version 3.6. This includes high quality tone-mapping, portal lights to improve rendering quality and speed for interior renderings, self-illuminating surfaces, and advanced lens effects. An extended version of the mia_material shader supports rendering of shading components into multiple buffers (render layers, or render elements) in one run for external compositing. The production package includes 2.5 D motion blur, selective re-rendering of parts of a scene, handling of mirror and gray ball, and last but not least an advanced matte shadow system with support for final gathering and reflections.

The shaders are available with mental ray version 3.6 or later, contained in the packages architectural, production and subsurface.
