Class Description: Wood, Glass and Metal -- mia_material
Intended for artists, this one-day class focuses on using the all-purpose mia_material shader to create commonly desired looks. We also cover the specialized optimizations this particular shader offers such as relfection and refraction interpolation, and mixing ambient occlusion with indirect illumination. Exercises within the 3D application provide hands-on practice with the material covered in lecture.
Class Prerequisites: Wood, Glass and Metal -- mia_material
The minimum requirements for taking the class include:
- Class 101 and 102, or equivalent experience using mental ray in one of the 3D applications (Maya, XSI/Softimage, 3ds max, etc.).
- Strong familiarity with the shader UI in the 3D application
